You can't talk to God using an app.

Being a yoga teacher doesn’t mean I have everything about yoga all figured out. While I’ve gained a lot of knowledge through intense training, studying, and practice, I still only know what I know.

I share as much knowledge as I can with anyone who asks or practices with me, but like everything, it takes dedication and curiosity. Being around someone who is skilled in their craft is truly an honor. We all have our unique specialties and talents that make us valuable.

With AI advancing rapidly, it’s bound to influence how we practice. Yoga will continue to be grounded in mindfulness, breath, unity, and growth, but AI will bring new enhancements for both teachers and students in ways we haven't even imagined yet. Regardless, the honest work, sweat, tears, and stillness are what lead to true yoga. A word of advice is that you can't measure spirituality and ascension. For teachers to hold their value, I think the spiritual teachings from the Upanishads, Veda's, Bhagavad Gita are all irreplaceable. To keep the practice grounded in it's roots, we as teachers need to step it up and include more "wisdom" from this to keep our aspiring yogis and clients motivated. You can't talk to God using an app.

AI is advancing with programs that provide real-time feedback on asanas, apps that create personalized routines based on your goals, smart mats that track alignment and health, online teacher training (which I don't recommend), and improved accessibility for those unable to attend traditional classes. Platforms like Teach.yoga help master anatomy, enhanced video production improves learning, Yoga AI customizes flows, and apps like FitGrid allow you to track progress. I believe these tools will complement our current practices, and I have an appointment with FitGrid on Monday to see how it can benefit us.

That being said, there are limitations. Connection lies at the heart of human life. AI cannot replace the intuitive, human-centered, and spiritual aspects previously mentioned. It lacks empathy and the ability to "read the room" or the beach, lol. Yoga is a path to freedom, not something to create more attachments or addictions. So move forward with excitement but discernment. Love to all!

We're kicking off our new August calendar! Hope you're as excited as we are. Sunday's have been a little quiet. Please let me know if there is a better time for a weekend class with Alex.
