Selfless Action
Chapter 8, verse 7 of the Bhagavad Gita that Gandhi followed, emphasizes the importance of remembering the divine while fulfilling one's duties. Integration of spiritual practice into daily life and actions. A corresponding concept in the Bible is found in 1 Corinthians 10:31, which encourages believers to do everything for the Glory of God.
A multitude of names, teachings, verses refer to the divine or supreme being in their own way, all in the name of selfless action and in the name of Divine. There are parallels of staying the path of discipline, fighting for what is good, and breaking habits or cycles of bad karma. Karma will repeat itself until the truth is realized.
The war within in is real. Two people walking around the same garden have their own different views through their perception. One person can become addicted to the fruit of a mango tree and if it doesn't produce fruit cut it down. The other person just enjoys the shade of the mango tree.
What is a negative statement or idea you say about yourself?
My personal favorite lately, "I can't write a book because people aren't going to be interested in what I have to say".
We all have goals, dreams which are good, but to insist on getting what you want no matter what is what creates the bondage of the egotistical nature. We have the right to work, but not the fruits or the outcome. If our motives are pure, we are in yoga. Setbacks will happen but we accept them just as easily as victories. The Gita says, yoga is skill in action. Time for me to get to work.
"Perform your obligatory duty because action is indeed better than inaction", is what the verses say.
Albert Einstein said, "that the Gita teaches him to reflect about how God created this universe, everything else seems so superfluous".
Only a person with true liberation, whom has found the Truth, has found Faith. The word yoga means the yolking of all, the mind, the body, the spirit with Divine, with all things. We can become free by releasing our attachments to success, money, praise, fame, beauty, perfection.
"Work free from any selfish motives", Ghandi.
So whatever you are working on, keep working. If it feeds your soul you are practicing you life's dharma. Your path to enlightenment, Samadhi. God. Divine.
Blessings always.
