The Power of Gates Within Us: Transforming Through the Lion's Gate 8.8.8
Every year on August 8, many people in the New Age/Spirtual world recognize a special day called the Lion’s Gate Portal. This day is often linked to powerful energy, manifestation, and stepping into personal power by creating a future you have been working towards. But what if the real gate we need to walk through isn’t only out there in the universe? What if it’s a gate inside us, waiting for us to tune into it and use it as another tool.
This post explores the idea of gates as thresholds for transformation, inspired by the Lion’s Gate on 8/8, the symbolism of the number eight, and the wisdom of the Noble Eightfold Path from Buddhism. Together, these ideas invite us to reflect on what we are ready to leave behind and who we want to become.
The Noble Eightfold Path and its link to the Lions Gate appeared to me through meditation, a dream, and my aspiration to speak only love for the past 5 days. Although it hasn't occurred yet, I maintain my commitment.
Understanding the Lion’s Gate on 8/8
The Lion’s Gate Portal is a modern spiritual tradition celebrated on August 8, during Leo season. It is connected to the star Sirius, which rises in the sky around this time, and the number 8, which holds deep symbolic meaning. (copied from chat gpt)
People often talk about this day as a time for acting upon what you really want.
The number 8 itself is powerful. In numerology, it represents strength, balance, and the connection between the spiritual and material worlds. When turned sideways, 8 becomes the infinity symbol (∞), reminding us of cycles, continuity, and energy that flows endlessly. That we are infinitly connected. That we connect with our truth of who we really are, we can release the stories that blind us or burry our optimism.
Practical Ways to Walk Through Your Inner Lions Gate on 8/8 I've come up with practices today that could be helpful to align with this energy.
Take 8 slow inhales through your nose and exhale by opening your mouth wide, stick your tongue out down toward your chin, and force the breath out over the back of your throat while making a clear "ha" sound. Look up toward your third eye (the space between your eyebrows) or up at the ceiling.
Let go of 8 items, stories, traits to make space for what is arriving.
Clean out the entrance of your home so they new can arrive.
Write down 8 things you are grateful for .
Write down 8 things you want and speak them impecably with your speech exactly as you want them. Align yourself with that way of being.
Light 8 candles and hold space for this infinite abundance.
The Three Gates: Is It True? Is It Kind? Is It Necessary?
Before we step through the gate of Speech, I meditated on the guidance of the buddist meditation today of:
Is it true?
Is it kind?
Is it necessary?
These questions act like gates themselves. They help us decide what thoughts, words, and actions we allow into our lives. Do I really tell my kids the whole truth of the past, or do I wait until their older and able to digest the story I want to share with them?
The idea of a gate is a powerful metaphor for transformation. It marks a threshold where we choose what to carry forward and what to leave behind.
While the Lion’s Gate and the Buddhist Noble Eightfold Path are not historically connected, their shared focus on the number eight creates a meaningful conversation.
The Noble Buddihist Eightfold Path outlines eight practices for living a balanced and mindful life:
Right View
Right Intention
Right Speech
Right Action
Right Livelihood
Right Effort
Right Mindfulness
Right Concentration
Today I invite you through the Lion's Gate, to align with the Buddhist Noble Eightfold Path and manifest and abundance of possiblility, light, love, joy and connection.
Infinitly yours,
Lo
