Shaman/Yoga/Philosophy Teaching
Synchronicity – When things magically seem to happen in perfect timing.
Carl Jung coined the word synchronicity. Events that weren't caused by anything you can necessarily prove. Jung believed that some events are connected by meaning rather than by cause and effect.
Shamanism teaches us to pay attention to nature. It will speak to you and guide you. Nature will show you wisdom in its unfolding. It will deliver gifts like feathers, butterflies, birds, hearts, dragonflies, and dreams. It's up to us to be open and present to receive the synchronicities. Offer love back to nature to thank Mother Earth.
Yoga creates the conditions for stilling your mind so that you become detached from outcomes. Yoga slows us down enough to feel what is happening right now, in flow. In the Yoga Sutras, Patanjali says:
"Yoga is the stilling of the fluctuations of the mind."
Awareness (Smriti) and Seeing Clearly (Vidya)
When the mind becomes quieter, our perception becomes clearer. We begin to notice connections, symbols, and patterns we may have overlooked before.
They all speak to possibilities when we are in alignment.
Imagine this: You are driving in your car to an appointment. You start thinking of a person in your life who has passed on, and as you turn on the radio, you hear the song that reminds you of that person. Then, at that same moment, you notice it is 3:38 p.m. This sequence of numbers is one of your signs that gets shown to you all of the time.
Did one thing cause the other? Can you prove this to anyone?
This is what Carl Jung was explaining with synchronicities. They just occur, like magic. Like divine appointments.
Yesterday, the sequence of numbers 3s and 8s appeared at least three different times. I got to take a walk on the beach with one of my best friends, Jo. We hadn't seen each other for a couple of months. We both lost our first husbands within a year of each other. We have mentored each other over the years.
As we walked down the beach, I remembered it was my first husband's birthday yesterday, and of course, I was walking with her...
On our walk, there were at least a half dozen feathers on my path. I brought one home with me to commemorate the moment and put it into my ceremonial vase of nature's gifts. Last night I had a dream about Dan—a short visit, but it was a visit.
Nature, connections, dreams, and time—they all beautifully coordinated this for me.
That was a beautiful gift.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I hope that you get to discover the magic in your life this week. I am declaring that we all receive undeniable synchronicities this week, and I look forward to hearing about them from you.
"Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it."
— Mary Oliver
