Hello yoga friends!
Hope this Sunday finds all of you in good spirits. Loving all the nature-loving pictures everyone has been posting! What a breath of fresh air with so much tense energy going on all over the world. Getting back to nature is so therapeutic! In fact, after this email, I am going to get outside and plant dozens of flowers Matt and I bought yesterday! It immediately soothes my nerves, and I haven't been able to garden for about 3 months. Gardening is an extension of my yoga practice.

I've fine-tuned trusting the wisdom of my body. No teacher should even pressure you to try something you know isn't right for you in that moment. I have felt that pressure and regretted not listening to myself. When I try to do something that I haven't been able to due to brain surgery, I go slow and ask myself, by turning inward, if it's safe for me to do now. I attempted to pull weeds a few weeks ago, and that was a hard stop! Who knew you needed so much strength to pull weeds. I tried again yesterday, once agin I went slow, turned inward and felt I would be fine, so I pulled every one of those suckers out. I do most of my best deep thinking with my hands in the dirt, my mental garden sanctuary. The hands are a direct line to the heart, so any work with your hands is therapeutic.
Over the course of our yoga practice, we can't always practice the postures. Our body is always going through changes. Rest has been a spiritual practice in which I am learning about self-worth, deep understanding of myself, my limitations, my capacity to forgive, and desire to help. My fire energy has been sparking to get back to movement. I knew that I needed to rest, deep healing happens in relaxation so I have taken the time to do so. Health, spiritual connection, inner wisdom, and strength are part of the backbone of yoga. "Yoga practice is a perfect exercise for the physical structure, musculoskeletal, neurological, digestive, respiratory, circulatory, and immune systems." Stephen Cope
What you practice gets stronger. In yoga, we practice building all of the systems in the body to create the best vessel for our journey. Keep practicing your yoga, keep tuning in, keep on keep on! Insight is the fruit of the practice. Come practice with us in nature, on Vanderbilt Beach! Pull 1 weed if you can, then build up your strength to keep pulling and plant your flowers! Love you all.
